Under the direction of the COO, the Youth Development Director is responsible for the supervision, development, administration, management, and evaluation of the Camp, Afterschool, Family, and Teen programs in accordance with the purposes and policies of the Association. This person is also responsible for recruiting, supervising, and training program staff and volunteers; implementing, managing, and supervising safe, quality youth and family programs; fiscal management of the department; marketing programs; and sustaining and developing relationships within the community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and equivalent experience working with youth.
- Previous YMCA program experience preferred.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
- Experience leading programs designed to have a predetermined impact on participants.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines and goals.
- Strong supervisory skills for recruiting and managing full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff and volunteers. Experience developing cause-driven leaders among staff and volunteers.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software (PC & MAC), including, but not limited to, survey and database programs.
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills; initiative as a self-starter.
- Experience measuring the impact of programs and making adjustments based on measured results.
- An understanding and ability to communicate the Y philosophy, policies, rules, and procedures.
- A proven track record in program development, participant recruitment, retention, budget development, management, and staff supervision.
- Candidate must possess a genuine interest in people and the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and the general public.
- Current Driver’s license, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
Essential Functions
Overall, this position is responsible for the development and management of the department’s annual budget, ensuring established Y programs continue with success and growth, introducing new programs, and supervising a team of part-time, full-time, and seasonal staff in various roles as program leaders, program coordinators, instructors, and volunteers.Overall Management, Development, and Administration of the Youth & Family Programs listed below :
