PROGRAM DESIGN : Roads to Success (RTS) facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are. PRIMARY FUNCTION : The primary functions of the Youth Employment Coordinator are threefold : i) to ensure that the RTS mission and vision of positive youth development are carried into practice within the program, ii) to support both PDs in strategic planning, student recruitment, program implementation, program evaluation, and coordinating student events such as educational field trips, student orientations, appreciation events, community events, and more, iii) to build and maintain positive relationships with all key stakeholders, including parents and students. ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE : Supervisor : Program Director Supervises : Participants between the ages of 14-24 Hours : Full-time, 35 hours, Monday – Friday Compensation : $25-$27 per hour based on experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Collaborate with Program Directors (YY / OY) to identify students’ career interests and develop tailored internship placements Support in maintaining all paperwork associated with the internship placement process Support with planning and executing career panels, college and professional field trips, college fairs and workshops in collaboration with other team members. Provide guidance to Worksite Monitors / Instructors on maximizing internship experiences by modeling effective relationship skills with adolescents. Support planning, implementation, build and maintain partnerships with WLG program. Conduct outreach to support increasing participant engagement during program cycle Support with all implementation and execution of all aspects of the recruitment and enrollment process. Support the handling of sensitive and required documents, to support Audit compliance Engage students’ families, as needed, to support the completion of their internship Support the day-to-day operations of program staff during program hours Support College and Career Pathways program (if needed it) The Youth Employment Coordinator may perform other duties as assigned by the Director. QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits administration, social services, or a related field. Deep understanding of public benefit programs. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in data management and reporting systems. Experience in crisis intervention and support. WORKING CONDITIONS Work takes place in one or more school buildings, which may require climbing stairs. Typical job hours are 9 am -5 pm, Monday - Friday, and events that take place during occasional nights and weekends. Travel via public transportation or car may be required throughout NYC. COMPETENCIES Implements consistent methods in child and youth development that extend to comprehensive family support, ensuring a systematic approach is maintained throughout the program. Ability to create and manage systems for effective program operation Create and nurture a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that prioritizes the safety and emotional well-being of all participants. Efficiently manage operational systems, including data collection and stakeholder communication, to maintain operational effectiveness. Creates and Manages Systems for Effective Operation Build and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, ensuring that the program remains connected and relevant. Adapt to changing environments and needs, fostering innovation and engagement through changing leadership. Represent the program, its participants, staff, and families at various levels, advocating for their needs and the program's success.
