A&M UMC seeks to provide and enable the highest possible standard in sacred music. We seek to help people grow in their discipleship of Jesus Christ through the Music Ministry of the church. The Contemporary Worship Leader is the primary leader for contemporary music throughout all ministries of the church. We are seeking an individual with a spiritual calling to lead others in worship. This person must be a gifted and passionate Worship Leader. They should be able to direct a band and speak to how worship is translated. Must be flexible, organized, and able to develop volunteers. Must have good interpersonal skills to communicate with various ministries. Must be passionate about development and hungry for growth. Should have a passion for developing and raising new worship leaders, intentional about engaging the next generation, with a proven track record and obvious fruits. This person must be all about seeing teams and people win, not building personal success. Knowledge and skill in media / technical aspects of worship are a plus.
Responsibilities of the Position
- Musically and Spiritually Leads the music in the contemporary service (currently 9 : am) as well as college worship and youth myf services.
- Conducts weekly rehearsal for Contemporary Worship band
- Works with the Director of Communications to coordinate the technical / media volunteers for the Contemporary Service
- Plans lighting and visual effects for Contemporary Service with the Director of Media
- Plans songs according to Scripture and Sermon Series
- Recruits and trains band members
- Works with the church staff and lay leadership in developing ongoing contemporary music ministries
- Develops stage design and engineering for contemporary worship
- Work with the Pastor and staff in planning the services
- Manages the contemporary worship music budget
- Works with the staff and pastors to create a vision for contemporary worship as an outreach to the community
- Helps to produces ministry videos and works closely with the Media & Communications team to integrate technology into the ministries of the church
- Leads discipleship opportunities for the congregation
- Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the pastor.
