The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving the less fortunate in Southern California through emergency and long-term rehabilitation services since 1972. RMA partners with local churches to meet the spiritual needs of the people we serve.
Summary
The Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing trust-based, sustainable relationships with donors, community partners, and volunteers to support the mission of RMA. This position oversees all aspects of volunteer coordination and engagement while cultivating and maintaining donor and community relationships to increase participation and contributions. Additionally, this role plans and oversees key community events and projects throughout the year, representing the organization at community gatherings and events. This is a full-time, exempt position, in Oxnard, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination
- Design, implement, and oversee a robust Volunteer Program in collaboration with leadership.
- Recruit, screen, train, and onboard volunteers while coordinating assignments, schedules, and activities.
- Manage volunteer contact information, track and report hours, and maintain accurate records using established methodologies and tools.
- Periodically assess volunteer satisfaction and explore opportunities for improved engagement.
- Organize and execute volunteer recognition events, such as National Volunteer Week.
- Promote volunteer opportunities through social media and other outreach channels.
- Plan and distribute a calendar of volunteer-related events.

This position requires extended times of work in an office environment in meetings and working at a desk and computer, local travel in community, lifting up to 30 lbs.

Work Environment
Although this position functions to a large degree in an office setting, as a part of normal duties this position will be in locations with an at-risk population where errant behavior and risk of infectious disease may be present, as well as commercial settings where medium duty equipment may be in use, such as forklifts and bailers. Appropriate safety considerations will be required to avoid illness or injury.
