Job description
The VP of Sales will be responsible for achieving the annual sales revenue and profit goals of the company. The VP of Sales provides leadership, direction, and resources to the sales department and is accountable for the overall sales department performance, the achievement of sales department goals and targets, and the alignment of the business’s strategy. The role is also charged with ensuring sustainable revenue growth by winning sales accounts independently from distributors and constantly maximizing market penetration. This sales leader will also be responsible for ongoing sales and selling expense forecasting, as well as establishing selling prices within given profit parameters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Own the origination, development, and maintenance of relationships with all new and key accounts
Drive sales pipelines from prospecting to closure with a hands-on approach
Develop and execute on International expansion plans (UK, Middle East being top priority)
Effective leadership and management of the Director of National Sales
Manage all reporting requirements of Sales Team
Establish Key Market and Key Account Targets with the Director of National Sales
Efficiently resource and build Sales team by setting sales goals for team members and evaluating their performance against these goals monthly
Oversee and manage expenses of the Sales Team
Review key account placement and sales updates and compare performance to goals with the Director of National Sales
Work through the Director of National Sales to organize and conduct annual account reviews
Develop case and product allocations for all regions
Review depletion reports regularly and make proactive plans accordingly
Inventory management / depletion management
Development and tracking of supply chain activity with the Director of National Sales by market
Development of national and regional incentive programs
Schedule and participate in market blitzes and promotions where possible
Attend national and regional trade events
Work with marketing to develop Point-of-Sale and product promotion material
Quarterly Budget Review with CFO
Conduct annual sales team performance reviews
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
10+ years’ experience, including 5+ in Director level Sales management position within the beverage (CPG) industry; startup experience strongly preferred
Experience sourcing and launching new accounts required
Bachelor’s degree required
Ability to manage and lead teams, including specific examples of coaching / teaching
Analytical skills and proficiency with analytical tools
Ability to communicate with individuals, small groups, and large groups using tools and materials appropriate to each
Organizational and time management skills, along with the demonstrated ability to teach those skills to others
Ability to extract, format, analyze data from multiple sources (for example VIP, IRI, and distributor reports), and set action plan to a variety of audiences
Ability to review and assess effectiveness of Sales and Sales-related Marketing plans to be executed in the field
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently as a self-starter, as well as part of a diverse team
Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (or equivalent)
Ability to organize your own work, work systematically, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
