The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to work as a Part-Time Construction Apprenticeship Readiness Instructor to support our St. Clair County Outreach center.
The instructor is responsible for the Apprenticeship Readiness job training program and the development and implementation of a multi-craft core curriculum (MC3), which will qualify individuals for employment as apprentices in the construction and building trades industry. This is a part time position working 29 hours per week.
The instructor is responsible for workshop maintenance, organization, safety, and cleanliness; maintains and updates an inventory list and provides all classroom / practicum instruction.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Prepare adults for career development programs in construction apprenticeships and career pathways
- Use a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on, online, and classroom training modules
- Assess trainees on a weekly basis to ensure learning and adjust teaching
- Create and implement lesson plans, rubrics and classroom management utilizing the MC3 website.
- Provide hands-on training in construction utilizing prescribed projects.
- Provide construction math to participants
- Plan and organize special activities and job site tours for participants.
- Understand and communicate the goals of programs, as well as the enrollment process.
- Coordinate with program staff related to recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Very strong communication skills, including working with a diverse clientele.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of all agency files / records and contractual agreements.
