Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager I (WMI), the Heavy Truck Driver (HTD) is responsible for pickup and delivery of goods and commodities, on and off institutional grounds, utilizing a variety of different trucks to perform related laboring work. Collect recyclable materials generated by the institution. Supervise an inmate crew and operate / drive a heavy motor truck assigned to the Warehouse. Incumbent will also be responsible for enforcement of institutional rules and regulations and prevention of introduction of contraband onto institutional grounds. Incumbent is required to possess a valid California Commercial Class ‘A’ driver’s license with no restrictions.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and / or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
