Protected Species Observer (PSO) / Marine Mammal Observer (MMO)
We are seeking qualified and dedicated Protected Species Observers (PSOs) and Marine Mammal Observers (MMOs) to join our offshore projects. You will be responsible for monitoring marine life during offshore wind farm construction, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and protecting marine species during operations. The PSOs and MMOs will play a vital role in observing and recording the presence of protected species, such as marine mammals, sea birds, and other marine life, to mitigate potential risks during offshore activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Monitor and record the presence of marine mammals, sea birds, and other protected species during offshore wind farm operations.
- Conduct observations from the designated observation point, providing real-time data on marine species activity.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental protection regulations and client-specific guidelines related to marine life.
- Provide regular reports on species sightings and behaviors, including any mitigation actions taken.
- Maintain vigilance during all activities, such as pile-driving, vessel movements, and other construction operations.
- Collaborate with project teams and environmental specialists to ensure environmental protection measures are followed.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to any sightings of protected species, ensuring compliance with mitigation protocols.
