GENERAL DUTIES
- Performs patient assessments and technical skills to assess the ophthalmic status of each patient, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
- Performs diagnostics, takes history, tests vision, performs specialized ophthalmic testing, dispenses contact lenses and assists physicians.
- Educates patients and documents patient interactions.
- Collects patient medical history, eye measurements and determines intraocular pressure.
- Supports ophthalmologists in the treatment of eye diseases and disorders.
- Prepares and maintains examination equipment and rooms.
- Contributes to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care.
- Manages medication supply, ordering and inventory.
