Job Overview :
The Transportation Logistics Unit is responsible for the overall operations, coordination, and documentation of transportation of children and youth in custody. This includes the coordination of transportation for both Dependent and Neglect (D&N) and Juvenile Justice (JJ) youth and children. The Transportation Logistics Manager is responsible for providing oversight to all Transportation Logistics team functions, such as decision-making for transportation needs, assignments and coordination, and final approval and reviews. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of both D&N and JJ transportation policies. The Transportation Logistics Manager will directly oversee the D&N Transport Coordinator, JJ Transport Coordinator and Transportation Admin.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Develop and implement transportation logistics strategies and policies in line with departmental goals and objectives.
2. Supervise and provide guidance to the D&N Transport Coordinator and JJ Transport Coordinator, ensuring adherence to departmental policies, standards, procedures and safety guidelines.
3. Oversee the coordination of transportation services for children and families involved with the department, both in-home and out-of-home.
4. Monitor and analyze transportation-related data, such as trip records, costs, and performance metrics, to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
5. Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, including those related to youth adjudicated delinquent, child safety and welfare.
6. Collaborate with Statewide Services Training to develop and deliver training for transportation staff to ensure consistent and quality service delivery.
7. Collaborate with stakeholders, including Motor Vehicle Management, Finance and Budget, Regional Operations staff, privatized service providers, and other agencies, to optimize transportation logistics operations.
8. Serve as the point of contact for transportation-related questions, concerns, and escalations from internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to five years of professional work in one or a combination of the following : counseling or case management services, or program evaluation of counseling or case management services, two years of which must include children's and / or juvenile services program evaluation.
