Join us on our lean journey, our Industry 4.0 journey, and our journey to win. DRT Holdings is looking for a CNC Programmer to join our team in Rochester, NY at our Aerospace facility.
Summary :
The Programmer for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment is responsible for optimizing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes involving CNC machines. This role focuses on ensuring efficient production workflows, enhancing machine performance, and implementing continuous improvements to meet quality standards, cost-efficiency, and production timelines. The Programmer will collaborate closely with production teams to troubleshoot issues, develop new processes, and train operators on best practices. Additionally, the role involves analyzing machine data, recommending equipment upgrades, and supporting lean manufacturing initiatives to streamline operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Read and interpret prints to determine manufacturing methods and sequences, fixturing, raw materials, and work to be performed outside by local vendors. Understand and interpret GD&T.
- CNC Programming & Setup : Develop and optimize CNC programs for milling machines (using CAM software), ensuring that all parts are produced to specifications while maintaining quality standards.
- Input routing data into database; input is necessary to calculate times necessary to complete procedures and to explain in detail the procedures involved in each manufacturing operation.
- Communicate with other associates to determine the optimum way to manufacture parts.
- Use 3D modeling and CAD to sketch blueprints for outside vendors.
- Develop fixtures and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and update Operator Work instructions.
- Ability to manage new program from Purchase order through New Product Introduction Process and into Production. Technical Support : Provide hands-on technical support to the CNC machining team, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions to enhance machine performance.
- Tooling & Fixture Design : Collaborate with the design and tool room teams to design and select the appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine setups to ensure precision and consistency in machining.
- Quality Control : Ensure that all products meet required tolerances and specifications through detailed inspection and testing. Implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain accurate records of process changes, production data, and performance metrics. Provide regular updates and reports to management on process performance and improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration : Work with cross-functional teams, including programmers, production managers, and quality control personnel, to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into the manufacturing process.
