Job Description
Job Description
Kids on Bikes (KOB) was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2005 with a mission to inspire and empower all kids to lead healthy, active, and happy lives through bicycling. It is with this goal in mind that we have identified three priorities that we believe will help us achieve that mission. Those priorities are to provide access to bikes and equipment so that all children and families can ride, we educate in safety and mechanics and we encourage kids and families to ride more frequently through organized camps and events. For more information about the organization, particularly our camps and camp schedule, visit www.kidsonbikes.net / camps.
Job Description :
Season outline - Our main summer bike camp season runs from around Memorial Day through the first or second week of August. We ask that you commit to one full week as a coach and more if possible. Each camp takes place Monday through Friday (8 : 30 AM-12 : 00 PM or 8 : 30 AM-3 : 30 PM).
The Head Camp Coach is the overall leader and director of their assigned week(s) of a given bike camp. With guidance from Kids on Bikes, each Head Coach will implement, and manage the weekly schedule for kids activities, supervise the Assistant Coach and volunteers, and will keep safety and fun at the forefront of everyone’s mind. Approximately 18 kids will be in each session of camp with the help of 3 other assistant coaches or volunteers. Our camps cover a wide range of ages and abilities and take place throughout various parks in Colorado Springs. Job start date is dependent on the week(s) the applicant is selected for, but generally the last week of May.

4. Ensure safety of kids by practicing precaution, education, and proper skill / trail progression; making decisions for the camp day based on weather and trail conditions, and being the point of contact for the week of camp with the Kids on Bikes Camp Manager.
5. Supervise other coaches and volunteers; delegating various responsibilities for the day.
6. Act as the main point of contact for parents and communicate daily regarding kid(s) participation in camp.
7. Handle any behavioral or safety issues that may arise and report any major concerns to Kids on Bikes Deputy Director.
8. Administer basic first aid as needed and take the lead on following emergency procedures for major incidents.
