My client builds and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for several business applications, including earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, risk reduction opportunities, and various science and exploration applications.
Position Summary :
The Spacecraft Structural Engineer is responsible for static and dynamic structural analysis of my clients' Micro and CubeSat satellite buses, creating vibration test plans, and leading vibration testing in person.
The ideal candidate is a meticulous, self-motivated mechanical engineer with NASTRAN experience analyzing space structures. The candidate should be comfortable building finite element models of spacecraft in FEMAP, performing stress analysis for all launch vehicle loads via NASTRAN, performing bolt margin analyses, and creating reduced FEA models for coupled loads analysis (CLA) by the launch provider.
Key Requirements :
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field
- 1-5 years of experience as a stress analyst / structural engineer in the aerospace field
- Proficiency building FEA models for NASTRAN
- Comfort executing and troubleshooting NASTRAN solutions
- Self-motivated work ethic with a desire to learn new aspects of structural analysis and mechanical testing
- Good written, verbal, and virtual communication skills
- Willingness to travel ~5 times / year to support vibration testing
