Job Description Summary
The purpose of this job is to provide comprehensive city plan management and implementation. Manages planning and development applications, including those for annexation, zoning, and subdivision of property; and communicates with customers regarding project compliance and impact. Proposes Unified Development Code (UDC) amendments; manages assigned transportation-related planning and project grants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
- Conducts comprehensive plan management. Prepares updates for plans, agreements, and grants.
- Processes planning and development applications. Reviews building permits and business licenses. Drafts development-related agreements.
- Administers, maintains, and revises the Unified Development Code.
- Implements and maintains software.
- Monitors federal transportation legislation and requirements and participates in Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and federal transportation planning conference calls and webinars.
- Staffs and prepares reports and meeting agendas for Columbia Area Transportation Study Organization (CATSO) policy board and technical sub-committee meetings. May prepare reports for the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience as a “lead” planner on policy or regulatory initiatives is desired.
