CTG is seeking to fill a Software Developer opening for our client in Durham, NC.
Location : Durham, NC
Duration : 9 months
Duties :
Design, develop, and maintain software applications focused on networking protocols, including IPv6, IPv4, ICMP, TLS, and IPSec.
Implement and troubleshoot network communication components in C / C++ (or similar procedural programming languages).
Develop, test, and optimize software solutions at the TCP / IP stack level.
Engage with standards documentation (e.g., IETF RFCs) to ensure compliance and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant networking protocols and technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, improve software performance, and contribute to the overall network architecture design.
Conduct code reviews and maintain software quality through continuous integration practices.
Participate in the design and implementation of auto-configuration mechanisms, routing mechanisms, and header formats related to IPv6 and TCP / IP protocols.
Skills :
Strong understanding of TCP / IP layer 3 networking protocols, specifically IPv6, IPv4, ICMP, TLS, and IPSec.
Proficiency in C / C++ (or similar procedural programming languages).
Knowledge of IPv6 technical details, including address structure, header format, routing, and auto-configuration capabilities.
Experience reading and interpreting IETF RFCs and network standards specifications.
Familiarity with networking troubleshooting tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in a networked environment.
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.
Proven experience working with TCP / IP networking protocols, especially IPv6.
Experience in developing software that involves low-level networking functionality, preferably at the stack level.
Experience with networking protocols on enterprise-scale systems.
Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Additional Requirements :
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
