Job descriptionBS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, with a focus on power systems. PE License (Professional Engineer) required. Over 8 years of experience in the electrical utility industry. Expertise in medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems. In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination. Experience in working with blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare time / cost / labor estimates. U.S. citizenship required. Valid driver's license required. Must be eligible for Military Base Security Access Clearance.
A Sr. Electrical Engineer with a power systems background and 8 years plus experience, responsible for designing sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial / industrial power distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and develop sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial / industrial power distribution networks.
- Create alternative design concepts, perform engineering calculations, conduct analysis, and prepare cost estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
- Review and develop complex electrical system models, validating system study results and making recommendations.
- Prepare electrical specifications for major electrical equipment and apparatus.
- Build system models for large-scale power systems using ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analyses and studies.
- Develop bill of materials and technical specifications for electrical projects.
- Schedule and participate in field walk-downs with customers, subcontractors, and construction teams to gather project requirements.
- Perform field evaluations and take-offs for preparing accurate cost estimates.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of utility power distribution systems, including principles, practices, and industry standards.
- Update and manage GIS databases for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
- Conduct site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop design concepts, and present them to management and clients.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
- Stay up-to-date with utility industry standards and codes, ensuring compliance across operations, maintenance, replacements, renewals, and new installations.
- Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, and system load scenarios, providing corrective action support to field teams.
- Participate in estimate review sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist construction teams throughout the project lifecycle, supporting cost estimate tracking and understanding.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster their professional growth and development.
- Lead project management efforts, preparing construction schedules, submitting RFIs, and facilitating design review processes while addressing open client queries.
