Job description

Duke University :

Duke University was created in 1924 through an indenture of trust by James Buchanan Duke. Today, Duke is regarded as one of America's leading research universities. Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke is positioned in the heart of the Research Triangle, which is ranked annually as one of the best places in the country to work and live. Duke has more than 15,000 students who study and conduct research in its 10 undergraduate, graduate and professional schools. With about 40,000 employees, Duke is the third largest private employer in North Carolina, and it now has international programs in more than 150 countries.

The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) Digital Media Producer is responsible for creating compelling photography, video, graphic, audio, and online content that highlights OUE offices and resources while also reflecting the diversity and dynamic nature of the undergraduate experience at Duke. OUE includes nearly 14 units focused on delivering academic and enrichment aspects of a transformative undergraduate experience. The individual hired for this role will create content that will support the specific strategic communications goals of OUE divisions and units as well as the overall undergraduate experience.

OUE's Digital Media Producer will produce, organize, and upload content focused on specific programs and resources and around central themes to be featured via websites, social media, newsletters, digital marketing screens, and other university and departmental communications channels. The content will reflect excellence in our services, highlight resources available to students, tell compelling stories about OUE and the undergraduate experience, help advance strategic initiatives, and otherwise benefit the reputation of OUE and Duke University as a whole.

Key audiences include undergraduate students, Duke faculty and staff, prospective students, alumni, and friends of Duke. This position will coordinate and collaborate with communicators across Duke, including those in student affairs, central university communications, admissions, alumni affairs and development, and the four undergraduate-focused schools at Duke.

Although the OUE marketing and communications team is expected to develop an integrated strategy, approximately a third of the content output will be in service to the Division of Student Success (SS), a third in service to the Division of Intellectual Community (IC), and a third for general OUE and VPUE communications and branding. The Digital Media Producer will be supervised by the OUE Director of Marketing & Communications and will supervise student assistants. This role will have significant interaction with staff members across the Office of Undergraduate Education and provide backup support for the OUE Marketing and Communications team.

The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) is committed to creating an accessible, supportive environment and an educational experience that recognizes diversity and cultural competence as integral components of academic and organizational excellence. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply and to identify their strengths in this area.
