Summary

Responsible for managing survey workload and assigning jobs to Survey Techs for land rights and preparation for construction. Provide support in solving complex survey problems that affect construction and SRP land rights. Coordinates with internal Field Survey Scheduler, Survey Field Supervisor and Survey Tech Manager daily for managing and scheduling projects. Collaboration with Land Analysists, Designers, Design Project Leads, Construction Consultants and customers to provide successful and effective project support. Identifies and makes recommendations for process improvements to improve the Survey Department's overall effectiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for managing survey workload by reviewing, prioritizing, and assigning projects to Survey Techs.
  • Analyzes and solves survey problems for both field and office.
  • Responsible for reviewing and signing / stamping survey maps and documents.
  • Under minimum direction meets with survey employees (field and office), and other land and construction professionals to resolve survey related project challenges and priorities.
  • Communicates with project stake holders such as Land Analysts, Designers and Construction Consultants to drive projects to completion.
  • Assists with training and mentoring of survey personnel.
  • Maintains, reviews and enters job notes in work management systems.

  • Extensive drafting experience as it pertains to surveying.
  • What It Takes To Succeed

  • Candidate must have Arizona Land Surveyor Registration which includes successful completion of the professional land surveyor examination.  The Arizona Land Surveyor Registration requires active engagement in education or experience, or both, in the profession for which registration is sought for at least six years as noted in the "Rules of the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration".  Candidate must then have a minimum of one year of prior related job work experience as a Registered Land Surveyor. (Total = seven years of experience)
  • Must be qualified as a "Surveyor a SR" or "Technician Engineering SR".
  • Must be a current Arizona Registered Land Surveyor. Registration as a certified federal surveyor (CFedS) is desirable but not required.
  • Must be able to perform the physical aspects of a Surveyor A SR. and the technical requirements of an Engineering SR. Tech.
  • Due to the interaction with internal and external clients the successful candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position also requires candidate to be able to read, write and interpret survey reports
  • Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years progressive experience as a Survey Tech, field survey.
  • Must be a current Arizona Registered Land Surveyor.
  • Registration as a Certified Federal Surveyor (CFedS) is desirable but not required.
  • Completion of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution which prepares the employee for the assignment is desirable but not required.
  • Education

    Minimum of 15 college credits (100+) related to the position from an accredited institution is preferred.

    Hybrid Workplace

    SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
