Contacts patients prior to service to schedule appointment with pre-assessment nurse. Collects patient demographics and insurance information and enters into computer system. Minimum Requirements : Education & Training : High School Diploma Required Licenses / Certifications : BLS Work Experience : 2 years of experience of patient registration in a hospital setting Physical Demands & Working Conditions : Ability to stand / walk between 1 to 2 hours and sit between 6-8 hours. Requires the motion to bend, squat, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 1 / 3 of the time. Continuous use of hands in gross and precise motor function. Lift up to 10 pounds up to 1 / 3 of the time. Body fluid exposure. Special Requirements : Verbal and writing ability required to communicate effectively in informing employees of activities and policies. Numerical ability required. Ability to receive, comprehend, and carry out instructions; ability to work safely with equipment, supplies, and materials; ability to comply with attendance requirements; ability to comply with Human Resource policies. Manage anger, fear, hostility, and stress appropriately. Work alone and with others effectively. Handle multiple priorities. Essential Job Responsibilities :
- Contacts patients prior to service to schedule appointment with pre-assessment nurse
- Collect patient demographics and insurance information
- Accurately enter all information into computer system and register patients as needed
- Assure correctness of appointments by verifying the diagnosis, date of procedure, and doctor.
- Assures each caller is informed correctly regarding place and time of procedure and has been given appropriate scheduling instructions
- Identify insurance plans and inform patients of co-pay and amounts at the time of registration
- Attends all required department-specific education and training programs and can describe his / her responsibilities related to department safety and specific job related hazards
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions
- Wears proper identification while on duty
- Perform other duties as assigned
