Position overview
Position title : Non-Operative Orthopaedic Surgeon
Salary range : The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and / or step. The base pay range for this position is $118,000- $285,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http : / / ortho.ucsd.edu / ) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body is seeking a highly motivated and qualified non-operative orthopedic physicians to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for physicians who thrive in a collaborative environment and are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, advancing medical knowledge through research, and contributing to the education of future healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities :
- Provide comprehensive, non-operative management of a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions in adult patients.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic techniques, including physical examinations, imaging studies, and injections, to accurately diagnose musculoskeletal disorders.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans focused on non-surgical interventions, including medications, physical therapy, injections, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in clinical research activities to advance the field of non-operative orthopedics.
- Contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows through didactic lectures, clinical teaching, and mentorship.
- Maintain a high level of professional competence through continuing medical education.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent, DO or MD / PhD in health-related fields.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent with clinical duties must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification / permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent with clinical duties must be board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Candidates must have completed an ACGME accredited residency training program in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Additional qualifications

Candidates must have completed a fellowship program in Orthopaedic Surgery by the time of start of the appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with at least 2 years of clinical experience in non-operative musculoskeletal care are preferred.
Candidates with at least 1 year of experience in a multi-specialty team setting are preferred.
Candidates with a record of scholarly activity are preferred.
