BASIC FUNCTION
Under general supervision of the Building Commissioner, this position is responsible for performing investigative work enforcing City codes and regulations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct detailed inspections of housing units and properties to identify code violations.
- Prepare written specifications detailing work to be completed to bring units to code.
- Research client ownership.
- Communicate with clients about violations and the enforcement process and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed projects.
- Function as a liaison between the City's Subrecipients, homeowners / residents and landlords.
- Maintain detailed records and set up files of violations and notices and maintains photo documentation.
- Work closely with City Departments, including but not limited to : Building Commissioner, Planning and Zoning, Animal Control, and Storm Water in enforcing local and State codes.
- Process and send out bills and places liens on property for enforcing City codes as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
