LVN - $42.50 to $45 an hour - Shift differential for shifts starting after 3pm

Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Assisted Living Licensed Vocational Nurse - Charge Nurse is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the care services performed by medication technicians and nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be required by the Clinical Director to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the medication technicians and nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the facility.
  • Order and ensure that an adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the needs of the residents. Report needs to the Clinical Director.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations determining your shift’s staffing requirements, and making recommendations to the Clinical Director concerning employee dismissals, transfers, etc.
  • Meet with your shift’s care personnel, on a regularly scheduled basis, to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and / or to improve services.
  • Receive / give the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
  • Consult with the resident’s physician in providing the resident’s care, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., as necessary.
  • Keep the Clinical Director informed of residents’ health status and other related matters through written and verbal communication.
  • Assist the Director and / or Infection Preventionist in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks in which there is potential exposure to blood / body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
  • Ensure that all personnel performing tasks that involve potential exposures to blood / body fluids participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the infection control program for monitoring communicable and / or infectious diseases among the residents and personnel.
  • Communicate updates to the resident representatives as needed and / or appropriate.
  • Participate in clinical auditing process as assigned by the Clinical Director.
  • Other duties as assigned based on scope of responsibilities.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved LVN program is required.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an LVN preferred.
  • Active American Heart Association BLS Certification.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in clear and effective English communication, both verbal and written, coupled with a strong ability to comprehend and execute instructions accurately in various formats.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy laws, such as GDPR or HIPPA, and implement necessary measures to protect confidential information.
