Director, Social Media
Job Purpose
The Arizona Diamondbacks are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director to lead the social media strategy and execution for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The ideal candidate will have hands on social media experience with a professional sports organization that includes leading social media strategy and delivering results. The seasoned professional will possess a deep understanding of the sports industry, success at integrating business objectives into a social media strategy and the ability to drive fan engagement and brand growth through innovative and effective social media campaigns. The role will report to the Vice President of Content & Communications.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure that the D-backs social assets serve as the preeminent source of team information, in-game / real-time updates, franchise announcements, exclusive player & team content and engaging entertainment for fans & potential fans.
- Engage and inform current fans and recruit and reach new fans through social media assets.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the organizations' social media vision and priorities, overall brand objectives and annual business plans.
- Ensure the production of a current and comprehensive social media content calendar.
- Ensure a consistent voice and brand identity across all social media channels.
- Establish annual goals for the social media platform that amplify reach, boost fan engagement and support / deliver business results.
- Stay current with industry (sports / social media) trends, best practices and emerging technologies to keep the Arizona Diamondbacks at the forefront of social media growth, impact, engagement and innovation.
- Partner with the content team to deliver engaging, high-quality content across all social media platforms, including text, images, videos and live broadcasts.
- Effectively collaborate with the marketing, communications, content, creative and photography teams to produce and coordinate content.
- Foster and continuously grow an active, engaged online community of fans.
- Ensure the team has an effective response strategy, responding to fan inquiries, comments and messages in a timely and professional manner, while also developing a listening strategy / approach on existing fan-led social media sites to inform and improve the existing social media asset performance.
- Develop executive social media campaigns that enhance fan interaction and loyalty.
- Monitor, analyze and report on social media performance and campaign effectiveness.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on social media metrics and trends.
- Use data-driven insights to optimize content, strategy, and engagement as well as measuring impact and learn behavior.
- Lead, mentor, grow and develop a team of social media professionals.
- Set clear objectives and performance expectations for the social media team.
- Foster a collaborative, fun, respectful and creative working environment.
- Work closely with business units (marketing, ticket sales, season tickets, groups, suites, corporate partners, community, and talent acquisition) to integrate their social media needs into social media content in a seamless and effective manner.
- Ensure timely and appropriate responses to social media crises under the leadership of the SVP of Content & Communications.
- Maintain the highest level of ethics and trust in all interactions with professional athletes, building consistently professional relationships that ensure integrity and respect in every engagement.
