Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Prison Canteen Manager II (PCMII), the Materials & Stores Supervisor II (M&SSII) rank & file is responsible for assisting in the operation of the Institution Canteens. The M&SSII creates the distribution logs and bag tags for use in Reception Center (RC) Canteen.

The M&SS II reviews canteen timekeeping records and SOMS forms submitted by the M&SSI at Warehouse for the inmates under staff’s direct supervision; preserves inventory controls and integrity; enters all pertinent data into the Trust Receiving Accounting Canteen System (TRACS) for monthly inventories. Provides security for those areas under his / her jurisdiction; prevents escapes and injuries to staff and inmates; inspects canteen premises for pilferage and contraband (such as weapons, drugs, tobacco and alcohol). The M&SSII may be required to provide back-up support in the Canteen Warehouse and / or any of the Institution canteens.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
