A full-time research associate is sought for the lab of Dr. Jia-Ray Yu at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion, located at Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus (CNRIC)in Washington, DC. The Yu lab studies the fundamental mechanisms underlying epigenetic regulation inhuman cancers. We use a range of tools and techniques include advanced molecular biology, biochemistry, reconstituted systems, stem cell cultures, and genomic sequencing. In addition to our research, we are actively engaged with the surrounding community through outreach programs. We seek a qualified individual to work across multiple projects in the lab to standardize our cell culture protocols and methods, prepare cells and samples for use across projects. This individual will also be responsible for various management tasks including research experiments and ordering / restocking of supplies within the laboratory. They will also train new lab members in appropriate methodology and laboratory technique as needed as well as be knowledgeable about all equipment and resources within the lab. They will be expected to collaboratively work within the lab and also with external collaborators to the lab.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry related field with equitable laboratory experience.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Effective project and time management.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to document protocols, techniques, and maintain inventories.
- Extensive expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
