We are seeking a dedicated Structural Engineer to contribute expertise in designing structures for local, state, and federal transportation projects. This role primarily involves structural design, analysis, planning, and review for various civil infrastructure projects, including bridges, retaining walls, and other structural elements.
Job Requirements
Perform structural design and analysis for transportation related projects, focusing on bridges, retaining walls and other structures.
Define structure types and dimensions, conduct preliminary design calculates, and select suitable analysis methods in collaboration with the Structural Engineer Manager.
Use industry standards, such as AASHTO LFRD Bridge Design Code or IBC Code, to apply appropriate loads to structural members, ensuring designs meet both strength and service limit states.
Develop detailed sketches and collaborate closely with CAD technicians and / or perform CAD work to produce comprehensive plans.
Prepare accurate, detailed construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates aligned with engineering best practices, utilizing standard software tools.
Prepare design reports including structure selection reports.
Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers to discuss project progress and key developments.
Perform construction administrator services including submittal review, shop drawing review and site visits.
Attend design review meetings, engage with clients and construction personnel, and maintain a positive, collaborative approach.
Perform inspection of in service bridges and structures as it relates to design projects.
Mentor junior engineers, support project management, and provide leadership as needed.
Adhere to the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
Travel as required to attend meetings and visit job sites.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in Structural Engineering (M.S Preferred), with an active Professional Engineer (P.E) license in Colorado, or the ability to acquire within 4 months.
4 to 12 years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis, especially with bridges and transportation infrastructure.
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, AutoCAD, and / or Microstation.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with CDOT project development and local agency processes.
Expertise in using Microstation InRoads, and / or Microstation OpenRoads software, and / or Civil 3D.
NHI Safety Inspection of in-service bridges certification.
