DeloitteDetroit, Michigan, USPosition Summary
Given the highly liquid nature of the energy markets, entering and exiting positions to maximize enterprise gross margin can occur dynamically at any point across the value chain. In order to confidently act on the operational, financial, logistical, transactional and contractual trade-offs, continuous financial transparency and optimization insights are needed. Digital solutions that can be delivered subjectively and quickly are essential to unlocking this untapped potential of an energy company’s existing portfolio.
We are looking for experienced professionals with an extensive understanding of the Midstream / Downstream Oil & Gas / Energy industry.

- Lead and optimize product / crude scheduling and logistics, ensuring smooth operations across all stages of the value chain.
- Oversee refinery operations and conduct strategic refinery planning with an emphasis on economics and efficiency.
- Manage refinery optimization activities, including crude feedstock selection, material balance, and backcast processes, to maximize gross margins.
- Work closely with traders, providing guidance on market conditions and potential opportunities to enhance profitability.
- Help clients manage and execute hedging and trading operations for crude, feedstocks, products, and intermediates, with a clear understanding of the risks and opportunities in the energy market.
- Implement digital solutions to enhance financial transparency, optimization insights and facilitate dynamic decision-making.
- Leverage data science techniques and linear programming to solve complex scheduling and logistics problems and optimize operations.
- Understand and manage the operational constraints faced by a refinery, ensuring they do not negatively impact the company's portfolio.
- Develop and implement strategies for downstream energy operations, with an emphasis on maximizing gross margin and unlocking untapped potential.
