DEFINITION :
Under direction of the Manager of Maintenance and Operations, the position performs duties that oversee the custodial services of the District. The position is responsible for organizing the work of day or night shift custodians at all District locations, approve time off, evaluate subordinate staff, conduct daily inspections of areas under responsibility, and maintain inventory of all custodial supplies and equipment.
DUTY STATEMENTS
- Organizes custodial care of all campus spaces to ensure that District locations remain safe, stable, functional, and retain a pleasant physical environment.
- Analyze employee performance to develop performance evaluations and devise strategies to address performance issues.
- Ensures that subordinate staff attend safety trainings and maintain appropriate certifications to operate equipment and comply with OSHA safety standards and District risk management policies; conducts monthly staff meetings / trainings to promote safe work place practices, proper custodial cleaning techniques, and equipment operation.
- Reviews purchase requisitions to verify available funds, appropriate quantities and accuracy of requested material.
- Participates in the District's recruitment process to assist the supervising managers in the hiring of full time and part time custodial staff.
- Schedules custodial work assignments to ensure that campus spaces are cleaned, maintained, and functional.
- Performs timekeeping functions, prepares attendance logs, overtime assignments, accident reports, and other reports as necessary to ensure compliance with bargaining unit contracts, and District policies.
- Conducts daily inspections to take corrective action, report needed repairs and / or deficiencies to appropriate supervisor(s), and verify successful completion of work orders.
- Develops estimates and schedules for the contracting of custodial services.
- Prepares event schedules to organize set-ups, break-downs and clean-up for District events.
- Develops an inventory control system for all custodial supplies and equipment to ensure proper quantities are stocked and distributed.
- Inspects the work of subordinate staff to ensure quality of workmanship, accuracy, and adherence to pre-established facilities services standards.
- Develops a preventative maintenance program for Custodial equipment to ensure that equipment is repaired and replaced
- Operate a company vehicle to travel between multiple sites throughout the day to oversee custodial operations, conduct inspections, deliver supplies, and provide support to custodial staff.
- Directly manage all aspects of employee lifecycle including recruitment, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, recalls, promotions, terminations, task assignments, performance evaluations, rewards, disciplinary actions, and grievance resolution, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.

A High School Diploma,Four (4) years of experience working in custodial operations with three (3) years working in a lead capacity,A valid Class C Driver's LicensePhysical Demands :
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required.Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.Environmental Elements :
The position will continuously work with customers, end users, and the general public while organizing custodial operations for the District.The position will frequently work in an outdoor work environment exposed to moderate weather, work around chemical hazards, biological hazards, sharp objects, dirty / dusty conditions while working around custodial tools, custodial machinery, custodial supplies, and various spaces that require custodial attention.The position will occasionally work in an indoor office environment and work around wet slippery floors / surfaces while inspecting spaces under supervision, to inspect the work of subordinate staff, and to organize custodial operations.Core Competencies : The District has identified the following essential skills and attributes needed for success in this position.
