Direct Reports : Director of Philanthropy, Director of Development Services, and Director of Marketing & Communications
What you'll do in your role :
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader, compelling communicator, strategic advisor, and innovative thinker who gains energy from building and strengthening relationships across a large and diverse geographic area. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a dynamic, collaborative, and creative leader dedicated to fulfilling the St. Louis Area Foodbank's (SLAFB) vision of a nutritionally secure Missouri and Illinois.
As the Chief Development Officer (CDO), you will provide leadership and strategy to the St. Louis Area Foodbank's vibrant and talented Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications teams. In the role of CDO, you'll have an opportunity to lead all philanthropic activities including but not limited to major gifts, individual giving, planned giving, corporate relations, government and private foundation grants. You will report directly to the Foodbank's President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serve as an integral member of the organization's Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Serve as a lead on the organization's plans for its 50th Anniversary in 2025, including but not limited to : messaging, financial support, paid and earned media strategies, and events
- Work closely with the President & CEO, COO, and other leaders in planning for an upcoming major capital campaign.
- Design and implement long-term, broad-based philanthropic giving and marketing & communications strategies that maximize impact and longevity of the organization
- Develop the case, build the strategy, and execute a comprehensive plan and compelling vision to expand the network of support for the Foodbank's mission
- Manage a personal portfolio of major corporate and individual donors to raise over $1 million toward the annual budget
- Prospect and procure new partnerships with corporations and individuals as donors
- Broaden the organizational marketing and communications plan to increase visibility, volunteers, engagement, and outcomes for our strategic plan
- Create innovative marketing and communications initiatives to support engagement of a diverse group of potential supporters to the Foodbank ages 5 -
- Oversee State Tax Credits program and processing gifts of appreciated securities to aid in positive relationships with major gift donors
- Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to champion cross functional / departmental communication and transparency regarding monthly reconciliation and accountability efforts for all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy of all data
- Oversee the Planned Giving and Endowment Programs, cultivating and creating long term revenue streams for long term financial growth and stability
- Provide coaching and mentoring to develop the next generation of leaders in the
Philanthropy and Marketing & Communications departments
