The Engineer will analyze refractory applications and processes at customer sites and use best practices to plan, develop, and execute refractory solutions. This role involves close collaboration with sales teams and customers to provide technical expertise, project management, and support throughout the refractory lifecycle. This person will be a key contributor to the company's commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.Job ResponsibilitiesCustomer Site Assessments : Conduct thorough assessments of customer refractory needs, including analyzing existing installations, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending optimal refractory solutions.Estimating and Proposal Development : translate customer needs and technical assessments into detailed cost estimates and comprehensive proposals that clearly define the scope, cost, and timeline of refractory projects.Application Development- refractory brick and fiber layout and designProject Planning & Execution : Develop detailed project plans for refractory installations, including material selection, labor estimates, and timelines. Oversee the execution of projects, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to deadlines.Technical Expertise : Provide expert guidance to customers on refractory selection, application techniques, and maintenance procedures. Stay abreast of industry best practices and new refractory technologies.Collaboration : Work closely with sales teams to support customer needs and develop project proposals. Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.Problem Solving : Troubleshoot refractory-related issues at customer sites, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.Continuous Improvement : Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's refractory services by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.Reporting & Documentation : Maintain accurate records of projects, including site assessments, proposals, and project reports.Mentorship : Provide guidance and support to junior engineers or technicians on the team.RequirementsEducation : B.S. in Engineering (Ceramic, Materials Science, or Mechanical preferred).Experience : 5+ years of experience in the refractory industry or a related field.Hands-on experience with refractory installation and maintenance.Knowledge of various refractory materials and their applications.Skills : Technical : Strong understanding of refractory principles, applications, and industry standards.Analytical : Ability to analyze refractory systems, identify problems, and develop solutions.Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.Interpersonal : Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.Project Management : Experience in planning and executing projects.Leadership : Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor others (if applicable).Other : Willingness to travel to customer sites (travel may vary).Understanding of the customer operations.Understanding of combustion controls.Knowledge of boiler, pipe insulation and jacketing.Mechanical / structure knowledge.Understanding of welding methods.Knowledge of Scaffolding.Ability to partnership with vendors for crafts we don’t have internally.OSHA and / or MSHA training. Need to have strong background of safety procedures.Strong Computer skills.Valid driver's license.
