    MOSES seeks an Environmental Justice Organizer to lead our efforts in advocating for equitable environmental policies and practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to environmental justice and community power building, with experience in grassroots organizing and policy advocacy.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement strategic campaigns to promote environmental justice and address issues affecting marginalized communities.
    • Engage with community members to understand their concerns and priorities related to environmental justice.
    • Build partnerships with local organizations, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders to support environmental justice initiatives.
    • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and public forums to raise awareness and mobilize community action.
    • Conduct research and policy analysis to support advocacy efforts and develop evidence-based solutions.
    • Advocate for local, regional, and national policies that advance environmental justice.
    • Coordinate with media and communications teams to amplify the organization's message and the voices of affected communities.
    • Track and evaluate the progress of campaigns and initiatives to ensure they meet their objectives.
    • Qualifications

    • A bachelors degree in environmental studies, public policy, social work, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community organizing, environmental advocacy, or a related field.
    • Deep understanding of environmental justice issues, including the social, economic, and political factors contributing to environmental disparities.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience in campaign strategy, planning, and execution.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Proficient in data analysis, report writing, and digital tools for organizing and communication.

      Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength (MOSES) 501c3 is a non-profit organization focused on uniting the power of grassroots organizing with public policy to tackle socio-economic and racial issues in the Metro Detroit area. MOSES collaborates with faith communities to enhance civic engagement and empower these vital community hubs. MOSES orchestrates non-partisan initiatives like issue advocacy, voter registration, and voter education and mobilization to foster political influence among low-income and minority groups. Their continuous efforts revolve around six key issues : justice reform, democratic inclusion, infrastructure fairness, economic respect, community health and equity, and educational equality.
