Job Summary
Provides professional assistance and clinical support to health care professionals to ensure the delivery of quality, evidence based health care services. Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive health care programs for patients, clients, and athletes. The practice of athletic training includes injury / illness prevention and wellness protection, clinical assessment and impression, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, and organizational and professional health and well-being of individuals under the direction of a physician. Travel may be required.
Essential Functions
- Triage patients as directed by physicians, and other providers.
- Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow through the clinic utilizing professional ability and independent judgement.
- Evaluates patients physical condition, response and progress to treatment, and discusses with appropriate physician and / or physician extender.
- Documents care consistent with documentation guidelines, and patient chargeable items / services according to standards. Administers medication, and injections to patients in accordance with licensure and policy.
- Interfaces with student athletes, parents, physicians, athletic trainers, and auxiliary medical personnel to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts and circumstances of athletes condition status exercising discretion and independent judgement when appropriate.
- Provides patient instruction in conjunction with physicians, and other providers. Develop and review patient home exercise programs.
- Maintain clean and safe patientenvironment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel.
- Reads pertinent literature, attend meetings and educational classes, and participate in professional associations as appropriate.
