The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for providing both strategic leadership as well as overseeing all day-to-day operational functions of a company in support of the mission and to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency. The COO will work closely with the CEO and other executives to develop and implement strategies that align with Feeding South Florida’s goals and objectives. This position will manage internal operations, including food sourcing, warehousing, transportation, allocation, fulfillment, and kitchen operations, ensuring efficient processes and smooth execution of all daily operations.
Salary : $155,000 - $180,000
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing Day-to-Day Operations :
Oversee day-to-day operations, including managing teams across various functions while building a positive culture and ensuring that Feeding South Florida is operating efficiently and effectively.
Identify areas of the organization where operational processes can be improved and develop and implement plans to optimize these processes.
- Oversee the financial management of the department, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring that Feeding South Florida is operating within budgetary constraints.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
Coach and develop the team to ensure they are delivering against key business metrics.
Provide timely, accurate, and complete reports on the operating condition of Feeding South Florida.
Facilitate communications between executive leadership and departments to remove communication barriers, ensuring timely responses, and effective decision making.
Development and Execution of Operational Strategies :
Work closely with the CEO and other executives to develop and implement business strategies that align with Feeding South Florida’s goals and objectives.
Play a critical role in business development, including identifying new business opportunities, building partnerships, and expanding Feeding South Florida’s reach.
Risk Management :
Identify and mitigate potential risks to the business, including developing and implementing risk management strategies.
Ensure regulatory compliance and oversee legal and compliance-related matters.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
Six Sigma certification a plus.
Minimum of ten (10) years of proven leadership and management experience preferably in a nonprofit or fast-paced environment.
Must exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset with an ability to take calculated risks.
Strong operational expertise across various departments or functions; including an understanding of budgeting and risk management.
Proven track record of developing and implementing business strategies that align with company goals and objectives.
Must exhibit a high level of discretion, judgment, and personal integrity.
Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing business environments.
Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
Ability to mentor, coach, and support individual staff growth.
Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse group of people.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Must be proficient in MS Office 365 and proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Warehouse Management System and Logistics Software knowledge a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours of Operation : Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. – 5 : 00 p.m., this position may work additional hours occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
Environment : This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and / or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Travel : This position may have occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or special events which may require the use of a personal vehicle.
OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
