Data Scientist
ROLE
We need a Data Scientist to serve in The Air Force’s (AF) Innovation Branch, AFWERX. AFWERX teams internationally across academia, industry and government to develop technology, expand talent, and transition dual-use capabilities. The AFWERX divisions serve to expand the defense industrial base for advanced technologies, empower Airmen and Guardian talent, and drive faster technology transition to operational capability. Your role as the Data Scientist for AFWERX is to gather and analyze requirements by working with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable insights. Your contributions ensure the efficient operation and success of the division's initiatives and objectives. This is a full-time opportunity. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement machine learning models and predictive analytics to support data-driven decision-making across AFWERX initiatives.
- Design and optimize statistical models to identify trends, predict outcomes, and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Work with stakeholders to define data-driven solutions, identifying key areas where artificial intelligence and automation can improve efficiencies.
- Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured data to enable accurate modeling and analysis.
- Conduct A / B testing and experiment design to assess the impact of innovation strategies and refine program effectiveness.
- Create data pipelines and automation scripts to streamline data ingestion, processing, and real-time analytics.
- Build and deploy interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate key findings to leadership and technical teams.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in the AI, ML, and data science domains to enhance AFWERX’s innovation ecosystem.
- Work closely with engineers and developers to integrate AI / ML solutions into operational platforms.
- Participate in industry events, research communities, and pilot projects to stay ahead of advancements in data science and their applicability to AFWERX initiatives.
