Job Title : Banquet Manager

SUMMARY : Responsible for the overall operation of the banquet facility. Works directly with internal and external clients to plan and prepare catering functions. Assist client with menu selections, A / V needs. Requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple events simultaneously.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with our guests and fellow associates.
- Ensure high level of guest satisfaction
- Work with multiple departments and vendors to organize special events and promotions.
- Work with IT to coordinate A / V reservations and set ups.
- Organizing all aspects of events, food, beverage, facilities, AV equipment and hotel room blocks
- Responsible for creating and distributing banquet promotional packages.
- Prepare correspondences, contracts, and banquet event orders.
- Help clients find other services, D.J, bands, A / V needs limousines, decorations, etc as needed.
- Work with Executive Chef to assist client with menu selections.
- Conducts guided tours of the facility.
- Work closely with banquet staff to facilitate room set ups.
- Coordinate Hotel staff for sales and room blocks.
- Work with Banquet Supervisor in hiring, training and motivating Associates.
- Work with Banquet Supervisor in scheduling staff to meet business needs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly business reports for the Director.
- Work flexible hours including evening, weekends and holidays and is available when necessary. This position requires a minimum of 45 hours per work week.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Directly supervises 10-15 associates in the Catering Department. Ensure proper scheduling due to anticipated business activities. Resolve employee issues. Conduct employee performance appraisals on a timely basis.
QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Education / Experience : Associate degree in Business or Hospitality Management and four years related experience and / or training; or High School Diploma and 7 years related experience and / or training. Experienced with Catering software.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability : Must possess excellent communication skills. Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and guests. Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and associates. Must have the ability to resolve problems / conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell. The associate must frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. The position exists in a casino work environment where the associate is frequently and regularly exposed to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor.
