Position Purpose and Objectives
Acts and performs duties of Title Specialist for Credit Union of Texas. This position has constant interaction with staff and members and therefore must have strong customer service skills. Responsible for maintaining and completing all title documents and reports pertaining to department including, but not limited to, preparing paperwork for perfecting liens, auditing loan and lease titles to ensure accuracy, and completing necessary contractual documents to ensure a smooth transaction for Credit Union of Texas, member, and dealer. The Title Specialist answers telephone calls, works with staff and members in office regarding title issues, and helps in other areas within the department as necessary. The right candidate must be familiar with a variety of the auto industry's concepts, practices, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSITILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Works under the direction of the Manager of Title Operations and assists with the overall operation of the department.
- Responsible for high-quality output, including complete and accurate title work, proper observance of all department policies and procedures, and responsive and professional member service.
- Participate in monthly team meetings to identify department, contact center, and store needs and opportunities.
- Build relationships with internal departments to understand business needs to improve collaboration.
- Verify required fees and forms necessary to perform transfer and record lien.
- Identify and prioritize outstanding titles from dealers, with a focus on those paid up front with a Letter of Guarantee.
- Escalate outstanding title issues to management for review.
- Interact with dealerships to instruct them on CUTX's procedures and requirements.
- Contact governmental taxing authorities to verify forms and fees as necessary.
- Handles various unique in-state and out-of-state transactions.
- Reviews all documents for accuracy.
- Answer title related questions from staff and provide direction on title related transactions as needed.
- Authorizes the payment of outstanding auto drafts upon proof of title transfer and lien perfection.
- Works various title reports and follows up on pending title work within established time frames to ensure timely processing of transactions, including making telephone calls to outside financial institutions and dealerships to track down outstanding titles when necessary.
- Handles release of lien and duplicate title requests from members.
- Releases titles on all paid in full loans.
- Prepares and walks title work to the tax office when necessary.
- Prepare loan documents to be scanned once all title work has been completed.
- Files new titles when received.
- Works with staff, members, and dealers to help resolve title related issues.
- May temporarily perform other duties as directed by Manager of Title Operations to maintain credit union operation and services.

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position :
Education : High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent required.
Experience : One to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Titlework experience is preferred but not required.
