About the job :

Reporting to the Programming Director and Senior Live Talent Buyer, the Talent Buyer will take responsibility in ensuring the company KPIs as well as the quality of programming across a diverse range of emerging music are consistently maintained for the Zone One calendar. Additionally, the Talent Buyer will play a supporting role to the Senior Buyer by contributing ideas for all other rooms and show types including the Hall, Rooftop and Elsewhere Presents. This is a demanding sales-driven position in which the candidate is expected to perform with independence and consistency in achieving financial success with the Zone One calendar as well as demonstrate the ability to make decisions and take action towards KPIs from the very first week.

Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to the below…

Complete a minimum of 150 Zone One Live shows and its respective lineup wraps

Support the Senior Live Talent Buyer with headliner and wrap ideas for Hall, Rooftop and Elsewhere Presents shows as needed

Building and implementing budgets for all Zone One live shows. Candidate must possess the ability to interpret and analyze event budgets, pro forma (ticket sales estimations, production costs budgets, advertising requirements, hospitality and technical riders to name a few)

Supporting local and emerging artists and maintaining a balanced diversity of genre and BIPOC representation in all rooms.

Consistently listening to submissions and responding to emerging acts appropriately within reasonable time frames, as well as researching and reading publications to help discover new, up-and-coming talent.

Auditing negotiated contractual agreements between Elsewhere and Agent / Artists / Artist Management.

Overseeing all accounting for your booked shows, including but not limited to : production, promotion, and box office.

Conducting and participating in weekly meetings to communicate progress on goals.

Working closely with marketing, production, box office and management.

Availability for both daytime office hours and weekend / nighttime hours to attend shows and events at Elsewhere and other venues; network and maintain relationships with industry contacts; participate in meetings

You’ll be successful in this role if…

You bring 2+ years of experience booking live concerts, demonstrating strong communication skills, organization, and an entrepreneurial drive.

You have a strong network of industry contacts, including agents, artists, artist management, and labels, with proven, well-maintained relationships.

You are adept at managing complex calendar scheduling and performing pro forma analysis for shows.

You possess a discerning knowledge of talent, with expertise ranging from independent and underground artists to mainstream acts, and a vast understanding of up-and-coming and mid-level artists both nationally and internationally.

You are resourceful, innovative, and forward-thinking, with a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for music, arts, and entertainment. You excel in maintaining exceptional service to venue management, corporate partners, artists, industry professionals, and fans.

You are skilled at working collaboratively and communicating effectively with diverse individuals, including young people, professional musicians, city officials, and partner organizations.

You have strong technical skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and web tools.

Your written and verbal communication skills are clear and impactful.

You are flexible and prepared to work office hours as well as evenings and weekends as needed.
