Job description

Position Overview

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing network and computer systems. This includes hardware, software operating systems, and configurations of servers, desktops, mobile devices, and networking equipment. Creates and maintains documentation for the installation and configuration of those systems. Performs troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of hardware and software. Ensures data security, backup, and recovery. Maintains basic security best practices. Provides high level support to help-desk and end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement improvements in hardware / software architecture and configuration on physical and virtual platforms.
  • Specify, design, and implement servers and applications in support of operations in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Maintain and monitor network, hardware, and software to ensure their availability to users.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various computer equipment, peripherals, and data communication devices.
  • Create and manage system permissions and users accounts.
  • Create and modify scripts used for system administration.
  • Performs periodic maintenance on systems, including downloading and installing updates, etc.
  • Research existing and emerging technologies and implement them in the company.
  • 2% ~ 5% Travel to Satellite Offices for localized maintenance / repair procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by IT Management.

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience with Windows and Linux systems administration
  • Knowledge of Active Directory architecture including group policy configurations for security and software deployment
  • Experience with virtualization, such as Hyper-V, KVM, Docker, etc.
  • Experience with system imaging and backup / recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of core networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VLANS, Firewalls, etc.
  • B.S. in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities that are time-sensitive.
  • Ability to work independently and as dedicated team member.
  • Proficient with Windows based PC systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain related software applications and peripheral equipment used in the organization.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Possess valid Driver's License.
  • Work Conditions

  • In person, Full-Time, and requires availability outside regular work hours.
  • Requires travel to satellite offices.
  • Physical Requirements

    Physical Ability

  • Must be able to continuously perform simple manipulative tasks such as writing and using a computer keyboard.
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, and reach overhead, climbing, and lift minimum of 30 pounds. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl into tight places to access computer hardware, to move equipment, install equipment, etc. as required
  • Must be able to perform simple manipulative tasks such as using a screwdriver or attaching cables.
  • Visual Ability

  • Must be able to effectively operate office equipment including computer, copier, phone, etc.; and to read / write reports, manuals, reports, correspondence, instructions, etc.
  • Hearing Ability

  • Must be able to continuously hear normal sounds and voice patterns with some background noise. Must be able to receive verbal instructions. Must be able to respond to emergency alarms and answer the phone.
