JOB FUNCTION :
Under technical supervision, working from and in accordance with blueprints, sketches, operation sheets, specifications or verbal instructions, perform all necessary inspection operations on all purchased and production parts and assemblies.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND PROCEDURES :
- Make layouts of materials and parts.
- Return parts for rework or hold parts for disposition by others.
- Plan and make required inspection setups.
- Set up, calibrate and use all necessary precision measuring instruments.
- Report all operating and tooling difficulties to immediate supervisor.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) as required.
- Perform calculations including trigonometric solutions of triangles as necessary for layouts and inspection.
- Perform layouts and inspections of tools, fixtures, and gages as required.
- Review operations and make recommendations for inspection tooling.
- Observe use of tools and gages and report any misuse.
- Responsible for the work performed.
- Using problem solving techniques and working with supervision, plan and implement continuous improvement activities.
- Instruct lower-graded inspectors.
