This role will involve supervising and leading projects related to the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of our transportation system.

Under direction, to have charge of varied and difficult engineering work involving the supervision of a professional transportation engineering staff engaged in a variety of activities, such as the planning and design of transportation systems and facilities, the operation of transit systems, special studies or services, and other transportation projects.
Senior Transportation Engineer - Toll Systems & Traffic Engineering
Ideal Candidate Statement :
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic traffic engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing a variety of traffic engineering projects, including highway and transit infrastructure, land development, and technology-driven transportation initiatives. This position demands strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet deadlines, remain fiscally responsible, and adhere to high standards of safety and effectiveness.
Desired Skills :
- Familiarity with Santa Clara County's transportation systems and infrastructure.
- Expertise in managing and using traffic engineering analysis tools such as Synchro, Vistro, VISSUM, FREQ, etc.
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing project budgets efficiently.
- Solution-oriented approach with the ability to adapt to changing environments.

Employment Standards :
Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college with major work in engineering and five years professional engineering experience on transportation systems or projects, including assignments which provided the opportunity to demonstrate supervisory abilities.
Registration as a professional engineer in the State of California in a field related to transportation engineering at the time of appointment.
