Responsibilities

The Psychiatrist provides ongoing psychiatric care to residents with mental or emotional problems. This position will provide routine and emergency assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, coordination of care pre-admission and post-discharge, parents / guardians’, and clients’ education, on a weekly basis, of assigned clients.

Essential Duties :

• Oversees Psychiatric care of residents of up to three pods (24-26 clients) for 40 hours / week.
• Attends weekly Treatment Team Meetings.
• Serves as liaison with staff Medical Director, Clinical Director, and other treatment team members.
• Documents patient encounters through weekly progress notes in the EMR, as well as any other encounters (safety assessments, phone calls with parents, medication consents).
• Assists with utilization reviews for clients and providing cross-coverage to Psychiatry team cases when required.
• Maintains excellent communication with other members of the clinical team, outpatient providers and family members.
• Completes discharge recommendation assessments as part of collaborative discharge summaries within 24 hrs.
• Works in a collaborative environment including maintaining requirements of Physician Collaborative Agreements, if applicable.
