School of Medicine | Department of Biomedical Informatics
Job Title : Information Sciences Program Manager
Position : #00826869 – Requisition : #34703
Job Summary :
This position is for a Program Manager in the Stranger Lab in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. The overall goal of the research group is to discover new insights into genome function and the genetic basis of complex human phenotypes through analysis of diverse genetics, genomics, and clinical data. The Stranger Lab is at the forefront of groundbreaking research, merging human genetics, bioinformatics, statistical analysis of multidimensional data, and cutting-edge computer science to unravel the complexities of health and disease. By innovating methods to identify and interpret context-specific genetic effects, the lab is advancing discoveries on the impact of sex and gender on the genetics of complex traits. Our current research spans critical areas including cancer, neuropsychiatric and cardiac traits, immune-mediated traits, clinical laboratory tests, and women’s health. We are seeking a passionate individual who is driven to significantly impact the field through groundbreaking research and inventive solutions.
The Program Manager will be expected to work independently and in collaboration with other members of the research group and other teams on campus and nationally and internationally. They will provide professional and scientifically rigorous statistical genetics and informatics expertise. This may include workflow and tool development, development and testing of computational and analytic solutions, study design and analytic consultation, biostatistics expertise, data visualization techniques, support and mentorship of junior lab members, grant writing, and dissemination of results to a variety of audiences with varying levels of computational and statistical expertise. Primary authorship and co-authorship on abstracts, oral and poster presentations, and scientific manuscripts will be involved. Preference will be given to those with a strong background in human statistical genetics and genomics, broad computational skills, and experience with complex data structures, distributed analytic tools, techniques for reproducibility, and open-source solutions.
The Program Manager will join a highly interactive, supportive, and interdisciplinary group of faculty, staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, engineers, and students in the Department for Biomedical Informatics who are inventing and deploying advanced analytics and knowledge integration approaches. They will also join the thriving community of the Ludeman Family Center for Women’s Health Research that supports women’s health research and the researchers leading discoveries in sex and gender medicine and women’s health. The goal of building this community is to make the Anschutz Medical Campus a leader in translating data into advances in research discoveries, health care delivery, and population health and in scaling these to provide nationwide benefit through innovative technologies.
Key Responsibilities :
